ISO 45001 - OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

Your organization’s human capital is your greatest asset, which is why the health and well-being of your employees, regardless of your activity and size, is one of the main keys for the success of your business.  Accidents and stressful situations have a negative impact on the performance of your organization, both in terms of output -sick leave and absenteeism- and reputation.

For these reasons, your organization must provide your employees with a safe and healthy work environment, proactively anticipating the possible occurrence of incidents and avoiding any harm or injuries. The purpose of ISO 45001 is to help you create an Occupational Health and Safety Management System, based on minimizing occupational risks and improving safety and working conditions in general.

Thanks to the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, you will be able to identify, analyses and assess risks that affect your staff in order to take the appropriate measures to improve the work environment.

ISO 45001 replaces the British standard OHSAS 18001.
The implementation of ISO 45001 is a strategic and operational decision for your company, allowing you to obtain many benefits:

  • Comply with current legislation.
  • Fewer injuries. Reduce injuries, health problems and even fatalities due to work practices.

ISO 14001 - Environmental management

The purpose of ISO 14001 is to provide organizations with a framework to protect the environment and respond to changing environmental conditions in balance with socio-economic needs. It specifies requirements that enable an organization to achieve the intended outcomes it sets for its EMS. An approach to environmental management can provide top management with information to build success over the long term.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

An Environmental Management System helps organizations identify, manage, monitor and control their environmental issues in a “holistic” manner. Other ISO standards that look at different types of management systems, such as ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, all use a High-Level Structure. This means that ISO 14001 can be integrated easily into any existing ISO management system. ISO 14001 is suitable for organizations of all types and sizes, be they private, not-for-profit or governmental. It requires that an organization considers all environmental issues relevant to its operations, such as air pollution, water and sewage issues, waste management, soil contamination, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and resource use and efficiency. Like all ISO management system standards, ISO 14001 includes the need for continual improvement of an organization’s systems and approach to environmental concerns. The standard has recently been revised, with key improvements such as the increased prominence of environmental management within the organization’s strategic planning processes, greater input from leadership and a stronger commitment to proactive initiatives that boost environmental performance.

ISO 14001:2015 standard is based on following environmental management elements:

  • Environmental policy
  • Risks and opportunities
  • Compliance obligations
  • Environmental Planning
  • Implementation
  • Monitoring and corrective actions
  • Internal Audits
  • Management review

KEY BENEFITS OF ISO 14001

  • Better environmental impact management through risks and opportunities assessment
  • Increased operational control over the environmental aspect of the activities
  • Better integration of environmental considerations into the business strategy
  • An improved correlation between the certification and the effective performance of the EMS environmental performance
  • A generic High-Level Structure that facilitates the integration of parts of other complementary Management systems: Quality Management System – Asset Management – Health & Safety – Energy Management
